Paul D. Hamm, Managing Partner

Mr. Hamm is a 13-year financial services industry veteran, financial entrepreneur, investment banking professional and private equity fund manager with extensive transaction execution and principal investing experience representing over $1 billion in capital raising activities for emerging to mid-sized public companies.

Mr. Hamm is the founder and Managing Director of AlphaWest Capital Partners, whose objective is to help emerging companies accelerate business, create momentum and maximize real and public value through a holistic financial solution. To accomplish this, Mr. Hamm has organized a core team that brings together a synergistic and vast array of talents, skills and perspectives.

Previously, Mr. Hamm co-founded and continues to serve as Managing Director of SovCap Investment Management Group, the Investment Manager to an offshore private investment partnership, SovCap Equity Partners. The fund, which was established in October 1998, achieves its investment strategy primarily through making private investments in public equity, debt and derivative securities. SovCap has typically acted as lead investor and Purchaser Representative, leading due-diligence, negotiations and transaction execution for most of our investments. The investment philosophy of the fund is best characterized as “VC for public companies”. As a principal investor Mr. Hamm remains actively involved and often acts as a strategic advisor with management teams throughout the investment period.

In addition, Mr. Hamm was also a co-founder and Managing Director of Sovereign Capital Advisors, a boutique financial consulting group that specialized in facilitating and executing private capital transactions between U.S. listed companies and institutional investors. Mr. Hamm led every phase of the process including strategic financial planning, marketing and selling efforts on behalf of the issuing company, and private offering packaging, management, negotiations and execution.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hamm had been active in the global capital markets with leading financial services firms including a private investment banking and asset management firm, where he led the execution of all phases of private equity transactions, and an international retail brokerage and investment banking firm, where he served as an investment advisor for high net worth individuals, performed investment-banking services for international public companies and developed proprietary global investment products. Mr. Hamm holds NASD securities licenses and is a graduate of Stetson University.
